About the role: 

The Development Officer (DO) plays a pivotal role in advancing Rivendell's mission through diverse funding streams. The DO is the school's fundraising strategist, a leader in donor cultivation best practices and drives the implementation of all fundraising.  The position raises funds and builds donor relationships that will be used to advance Rivendell's mission and philosophy. The position manages all fundraising and advancement programs including major and planned giving, annual fund, alumni and parent engagement, and donor stewardship.

What you will be doing: 

  • Represent and demonstrate Rivendell's core values, mission and philosophy in all aspects of Development and Advancement activities.

  • Develop and execute an annual plan to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donor prospects at all giving levels; expanding the school’s fundraising capacity.

  • Track results and provide accurate reports on revenue generation and relevant development expenses; communicate to Board as needed.

  • Own all aspects of events related to fundraising, donar awareness, parent fundraising, etc.; also attend other school events and meetings as necessary (some outside standard school hours).

  • Works with Marketing and Communications team members to create strategic and tailored outreach to the broader Rivendell and Northern Colorado community; may include social media, print and digital materials, event promotions, advancement webpages, etc.

  • Ability to lead successful efforts with fundraising, public relations, and alumni relations.

St. Mary’s Academy is seeking an Advancement Database Coordinator. This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position reporting to the Director of Development. The ideal candidate brings Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge experience and the ability to positively engage with a variety of stakeholders. 


Through regular conversations with the Director of Development and department colleagues, St. Mary’s Academy staff learn and understand their job responsibilities. Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning and execution of the St. Mary's Academy Advancement database, to ensure compliance with IRS tax laws and regulations, accounting best practices, and CASE standards;

  • Manage a relational database using Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT of approximately 20,000 records, including the creation and updating of parent, student, alumnae, employee, and donor records;

  • Perform timely entry of all gifts and pledges into the database, ensuring speedy and accurate generation of acknowledgment letters;

  • Generate tax receipts, pledge reminders, and other scheduled advancement mailings;

  • Prepare financial and analytical reports for the Director of Development that provide usable and actionable information for the formation and execution of fundraising strategies;

  • Serve as the primary liaison to the Business Office to reconcile funds and prepare for the annual audit;

  • Compile and submit annual benchmarking surveys to national independent school organizations;

  • Identify database cleanup in Raiser’s Edge NXT and complete them in priority order;

  • Design, import, and export data queries for mailing lists, data segmentation, and analytical reports;

  • Initiate and manage projects to improve utilization of Raiser's Edge NXT on a daily basis, from the initiation of system updates to mass modifications;

  • Assist with community events such as the Annual Gala, Annual Golf Tournament, Back to School Orientations, Fall Festival, Bingo, Grandparents Day, etc. To include mailing invitations and working with staff and volunteer committees, etc.;

  • Generate prospect research as needed and assist in managing donor prospect lists in the database;

  • Create, manage, and document Advancement database-related processes and procedures into a working Advancement Database Procedures Manual;

  • Other tasks as assigned;

  • Adhere to and support the mission of St. Mary’s Academy.



Qualifications/Requirements:

Education and qualifications should include the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT database experience

  • Practice classroom management that centers the social-emotional needs of children and embodies a joyful classroom environment.

  • Incorporate lens of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion across the curriculum in both planning and delivery.

  • Be willing to work in an interdisciplinary, cross-curricular, and collaborative environment.

  • Communicate effectively with families about student progress through both informal touchpoints as well as formal opportunities (parent teacher conferences).

  • Participate in outdoor education and experiential trips.

  • Participate in meetings for student support, department, division, and all school events.

  • Perform other duties as assigned such as supervising lunch, recess, study hall, and support students with extra help as appropriate.


IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science field or education is required; A Master’s degree is preferred. 

  • Certification in science education grades K-12 is not required, but is given strong consideration. 

  • Minimum three years teaching experience.

  • Knowledge of Experiential and Project/ Problem based learning will be given strong consideration.

  • Candidates must have excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently
